Experiments on Cells and Virtual Cells 2/2

<=PREV | NEXT=>
Based on the data obtained in our experiments (see previous page), we successfully developed a world-first 3D model of a myocardial cell using the finite element model. This virtual cell, with detailed intracellular microstructure, reproduces the electrochemical-mechanical phenomenon. The images below show Ca wave propagations in "damaged" virtual cells. Ca wave propagations in real damaged cells are also shown for comparison. Virtual cells are assembled to form micro-units (see Computational Science 3/4), which are utilized for the multi-scale heart simulation.
